Is Praying Really Work?

On the way to the swimming pool, a father said to his daughter that she should pray that God will not give rain. They are going to the swimming pool and if the rain start falling, it means that they will only swim for a short time. But then the little girl asked her father : " Is praying really work? Will God stop the rain if I pray now?"

This is a very good question from a five years old girl. She is exploring her new world and there will be so many questions to answer every day for her parents. What will you answer if you get the question like that? Do you think that you will always get everything that you want when you pray? What is the best answer to the girl who ask a question like that?

I believe in God. So I think this is the simple question that I have. When I pray, I believe that God will listen to it. But it does not mean that he will give everything that I ask on my prayer.
